Massage Therapist Jobs

Massage therapists jobs are responsible for using touch to treat patients with ailments, reducing stress, and rehabilitating injuries. Individuals with a massage therapist job can be found in a variety of settings including hospitals, private studios, fitness centers, and even shopping malls. Before becoming employed, a formal education program and an examination must be passed in 42 States and District of Columbia. These programs typically require at least 500 hours of study to complete. Licensure must be attained through passing one of the two nationally recognized tests which are the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) and the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there is a projected increase of 19 percent from the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be faster than the national average for all occupations. As different settings become more massage friendly and more individuals explore the benefits of massage, the opportunities will continue to grow. The job market is expected to be highly favorable for massage therapists who have completed formal training and examinations well into the next decade.
