Surgical Assistant Jobs

Surgical assistant jobs are responsible for supporting the efforts of a surgical team while they provide treatment to their patients. Typically working 40 hour work weeks, an individual with a surgical assistant job will aid in moving patients to the necessary locations, determine equipment needed for procedures, and select and apply wound dressings. Some surgical assistants may also inform the patient about the surgery before or after the procedure and provide support for family and friends throughout the process.

Educationally, individuals with surgical assistant jobs must have satisfied requirements for a bachelor's degree and received certification before employment. Accredited medical education institutions can be found locally.

This rate of employment is expected to be faster than the national average for all occupations.
