Ambulatory Care Nursing Jobs

An Ambulatory care nursing job involves treating and educating patients and the public on various medical conditions. A specialization of nursing, these professionals give preventative care to their patients and in doctor's offices or clinics. A small percentage of ambulatory care nursing jobs provide health care to their patients through videoconferencing, by telephone, or the internet.

Educationally, a prospective job seeker can choose from three paths including a bachelor of science degree in nursing, an associate degree in nursing, and a diploma. These programs are offered at junior colleges, community colleges, and universities and can last 2 to 4 years depending on your program. After completion of an approved nursing program the National Council Licensure Examination must be passed to receive a nursing license.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a 22 percent growth in employment over the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate will be much faster than the national average for all occupations. The demand for these careers will develop from technological advances, a rising elderly population, and more emphasis on pre-emptive health care. This will create favorable job opportunities for qualified health care professionals.
