Palliative Care Nursing Jobs

Palliative Care nursing jobs are responsible for maintaining the quality of life for patients that are terminally ill. These professionals collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to attempt to prevent the progression of diseases and other complex illnesses outside of the hospital setting.

Palliative care nursing will need to be registered nurses through completing an associate's in nursing degree program, a diploma training program, or a bachelor's of science degree program. Accredited medical institutions around the country offer these programs which vary in length. The National Council Licensure Examination must also be passed before becoming employed in any state.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 22 percent increase over the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be much faster than the national average for all occupations. A rise in the elderly population, advances in medical technology, and the broadening of healthcare services will create very favorable job prospects for qualified professionals over the next decade.
