Counseling Jobs

Counseling jobs are employed in a variety of settings for support services, rehabilitation, and counseling. An individual with a counseling job may have a wide array of practice including children, families, teenagers, or adults. Recognizing the individual needs of whom they are working with is essential to their profession whether it is addiction, mental health disorders, school problems, or disabilities.

The minimum requirements for professionals vary by state in terms of specialty, licensure, and certifications. A general practice credential of National Certified Counselor can be attained from the National Board for Certified Counselors.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 18 percent increase in overall employment set to occur in the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be much faster than the national average for all occupations. The number of job openings is expected to be much higher than the number of graduates, creating a very favorable job market.
