Dietetics Jobs

Dietetic jobs are responsible for planning food and nutrition programs through supervising the preparation and servicing of meals. Individuals with dietetic jobs can be found mainly in hospitals, school, nursing homes, and physician's offices and clinics. Common duties for these professionals involve conducting research, management, and providing dietetics consultants.

At least a bachelor's degree in food service systems management, foods and nutrition, and dietetics is required for dietetic careers. Most states require licensure while only 12 states have certification qualifications before becoming employed. Accredited education programs can be found across the country.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 9 percent increase in employment over the course of the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of growth will be close to the national average for all occupations. The demand will be driven by increasing awareness of health education and the need to replace workers that have transferred to other careers or who have exited the work force completely.
