Trauma Surgeon Jobs

A trauma surgeon job is an emergency physician that prescribes medicine, performs diagnostic tests and operations on patients in need of immediate care. Many of these trauma surgeons only see their patients once and may be required to see many different patients in crisis during a shift. A trauma surgeon job is typically found in a hospital or clinical emergency rooms.

Educationally, prospective trauma surgeon job seekers will need 4 years of undergraduate jobs, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency. The U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) must be passed before becoming employed. For professional certification, the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) offers examinations for interested professionals.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 22 percent increase in employment over the course of the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be much faster than the national average for all occupations. The demand of employment will be spurred from medical advancements, the rise in the elderly population, and widening healthcare services.
