Vascular Surgeon Jobs

A Vascular surgeon specializes in completing operations using a variety of instruments. Providing information on their patient's condition, vascular surgeons collaborate with other members of the health care team to develop treatment plans and perform and interpret tests.

Educational requirements for these careers involve 4 years of undergraduate study, 4 years of medical school, and 2 to 8 years of internship and residency. To become employed, all states require licensing. The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) must be passed to attain licensing. Certification within a specialty can be applied for through American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS).

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be an increase of 22 percent over the course of the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be significantly faster than the national average for all occupations. The demand for employment will be drawn from the increase in the medical services, the rise in the elderly population, and advancements in medical technology. There will be many opportunities throughout the next decade for qualified professionals.
